Azuca Films is a production house company working high-quality production in the Carribean. Our challenge was to create a brand that would represent both acollective of creatives and a film company. For the identity, we created acustom symbol an "A" that is Azuca’s brand icon. The typography wecreated is custom, inspired by letters found in old signage in sugarplantations from Puerto Rico.
The concept for Azuca Films' brand development comes from the old sugar plantations that were a staple of Puerto Rico’s culture. Each sugar plantation used to have the currency they used to pay employees. The currency was even branded to identify the plantation. If you look at the A in Azuca’s logo and brand development, it is inside a circle that is meant to resemble the coins used as currency in the sugar plantations.
We created Azuca Film’s brand using a black and iridescent color palette. The film used to shoot old movies had that bright color that changes depending on which angle the light is hitting. The iridescent color is also an attention grabber, and we wanted to create a brand that would stand out. The film production team is usually in the back, and we wanted Azuca Films always to stand out.
